BizAid Technologies Sdn Bhd and Digicert Sdn Bhd have launched an authentication and verification seal, ProTrust Seal, in cooperation with the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG) on Jan 10.

BizAid Technologies' chief executive officer Victor Ooi said the seal would provide Internet users with business information pertaining to site authentication, financial verification, front-end electronic business (e-business) details, privacy verification and integrity verification.

"The display of ProTrust Seal on websites would assure online customers of the company's authenticity and reliability by providing verified and trusted information," he told reporters after the launch of ProTrust Seal.
 
Ooi also said the information verification is performed by Assurance-Professionals, known as the ProTrust Consultants, who have to go through necessary assessment and training. These are professional practitioners such an accountants, licensed auditors and certified company secretaries.

He is also confident that the seal would bring Malaysia's online business to a higher level by promoting e-business confidence and a higher flow of online business activities.

Meanwhile, Digicert chief executive officer Noor Azli Othman said the information provided in the seal would enable online companies to project a trustworthy presence on the Internet, in line with the government's call for transparency and corporate governance.
